Phrasal Verbs ESL Lesson - to get a black eye.
A black eye is when the skin around your eye becomes dark, black or blue, because of bruising. This is also called ‘a shiner’.
*cut in line is used when people are waiting in a line, such as at a bus stop, and someone walks up and takes a place in the middle or front of the line, not at the back **No way is used to show that you can’t believe something, or you won’t do something. Here, A believes what B is saying but is just expressing surprise. My friend Brian got a black eye while playing rugby when another player’s head bumped his. John’s got a real shiner this morning.
