Drink (infinitive) I would like to drink some juice. I drink sometimes. Drank (past) I drank 3 glasses of coke, now my stomach hurts. He drank orange juice. Drunk (past participle) He shouldn't have drunk so much last night. *Note* 'Drunk' is also used as an adjective and means 'intoxication' from drinking too much alcohol. Eg. She was drunk from drinking too much beer. More fun stuff! Punch Drunk: This is what happens when a boxer gets punched in the head several times and then has trouble standing up straight, or loses his balance, and maybe falls down. Just before a knockout, looks like he is drunk. Drink Quotes: What do you think these mean? "I drink to make other people more interesting." -anonymous "I'm not so think as you drunk I am." M. Baring, et al. Now You Practice A: Would you like a _______________ of something? B: No thanks, I already _________________ some water.
A: Would you like to __________ some juice? B: No thanks I just ____________ a glass of juice.
A: You don't look so good maybe you should _______ some water. B: Yes, I would like some water, I shouldn't have __________ so much beer last night.
A: Look at that man, is he _________ or is he just punch drunk? Note: Drink can refer to drinking alcoholic drinks such as beer. “Would you like to go out for a drink?” This means an ‘alcoholic drink’ usually. “I don’t drink.” This means that ‘I don’t drink alcoholic drinks,’ of course everyone drinks some liquids, but not everyone drinks alcoholic drinks (beer whisky, wine, sakee, soju, etc). |
