Let's Head

To 'head' means to go somewhere, let’s go, let’s head out, or let’s leave.

Q: Where are you heading after class?
A: I’m gonna (going to) head home, because I am tired today.

I’m going to head out for a drink with the other students, do you want to join us?

We're going to head out to a movie tonight, Terminator 3 is playing.

- I usually head to my English school after lunch on Wednesday's.
- I am heading to PEI this weekend.

* PEI means Prince Edward Island, a province near Nova Scotia. This is the home of Anne of Green Gables and a great place to visit in the summer.

* is playing; This is how you describe that a movie is showing at the movie theater now.

Bonus fun!: Another slang expression for "let's go" is "make tracks!" Let's make tracks, it is getting late! or, "You will be late if you don't make tracks now!"

When you walk in the snow in Canada you make tracks (your footsteps outlined in the snow), so if you have really made tracks, you have already gone somewhere.

Exercise: Send email to your keypal and tell them where you plan to head this weekend.

I am going to head to _______________________ this weekend. Where are you heading this weekend?

How about you, where are you heading this weekend? This summer vacation? Etc..
