Wide-eyed

Wide-eyed –is used when someone is very surprised, shocked or stunned.

In fact, all of these terms can be used interchangeably.

Jane: I saw Hank walked with his arm around Ginger in the park yesterday. I was wide eyed because they never sit beside each other or even talk together in class. I would never have guessed that they’re dating.
Kelly: Wow, that’s news to me. The cat’s out of the bag* now, isn’t it? Come to think of it, they make a cute couple.
*The cat’s out of the bag = the secret has become known

I was wide-eyed when I saw Jack Nicholson in person at the night club.

When I first saw my boyfriend, I was wide-eyed. He was so gorgeous.

When I met my high school friends, one of them had changed a lot. She had had plastic surgery and lost lots of weight, I was wide-eyed and envied her very much.

I was wide-eyed when the punk rockers walked by me on the street. I’m from a small town and am not used to people being different than me.

My son gets wide-eyed whenever he goes to the toy store.

I get wide-eyed whenever I see new and cool products while shopping.

When I see my ideal type of man/woman, I get wide-eyed.

Ask your partner / keypal.
When was the last time you were wide-eyed?
Can you remember a time that you were stunned when someone walked by? When? Who was it?
Do you know anyone who is stunning?*
*stunning = so beautiful you are stunned / very, very beautiful.
